Love love love the Wonderland Cafe. The entire staff is the very best and my,gosh, I have never had a bad meal there. If you're in Gardiner, Mt. ,please give them a try. You won't regret it.
Went for lunch and some was good, some not. The elk chili was great, if you're going for that then get it and you won't be disappointed. I chose the caldera burger which was not bad but the regular seasoned fries were extremely over salted to the point where it was difficult to eat many.
We had a large party of 2 groups together totalling 10 of us on 2 seperate tickets. Since we were a large table, an automatic 20% tip was put on each of our bill. That's not ok. Especially not ok when the service was sub-par. After the food was dropped off and one trip back with some ranch for the kids, that was the end of our server until he dropped off the tickets. No refills on water, no checking in on the food, no ask if we wanted anything else, nothing. And the demand a 20% tip for that?
I get that it's Gardiner, Montana and they are trying to gather up as much tourist money as they can as most people will stop once and continue on their way. We live in the area and travel here several times a year and with the demand for such a high tip with minimal service and a mix of good food with not so great, I will eat somewhere else next time for sure.
Such a great spot. We had a delicious dinner here-- I had the stuffed portobello mushroom, which was flavorful and satisfying-- not always the case for the vegetarian option. My husband raved about the Elk Chili mac and cheese-- honestly says it's the best mac and cheese he's ever had. Plus, we sat at the bar with a wonderful older man who is a wildlife photographer, and got to hear his amazing stories while we enjoyed a delicious dinner. The staff were friendly, prompt and deserve an extra star on this review. Highly recommend.
Wonderful coffee and scones in the morning, came here 3/4 days! (Would have come 4/4 days but we went searching for animals before they opened!) Great location just outside of park entrance. Dinner was also great! We had the chili mac, side salad, and cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. Yum!
Wonderland has the best food in Gardiner - it's not even close. After multiple visits with my family, we've all agreed that everything was delicious. It isn't cheap, but the prices reflect the much higher quality. Furthermore, they easily accommodate special dietary requirements without any problems. Staff are polite and professional. Go early to avoid a long wait.
